
Why we build mirror heaters for damp spaces
Here is the problem with most heaters: they try to warm up the air. But if you’re in a drafty bathroom or a chilly dressing room, that warm air just floats straight to the ceiling, leaving you shivering. We do things differently. We build mirror infrared heaters that focus on heatingyou, not the room.
Heat that actually hits you
Inside these units, there is a quartz heating element. The moment you flip the switch, electricity hits that filament and it reaches peak temperature in a blink. It’s basically light. The energy travels instantly, so you don’t have to stand around waiting for the room to “warm up.” You feel the heat on your skin the second you turn it on. It’s a great feeling when you’ve just stepped out of a shower.
The guts of the machine
We tuck the heating element behind or around a mirror. This does two things. It keeps the industrial-looking parts hidden, and it acts like a reflector, pushing all that heat forward right toward you. To make sure the heaters actually last, we use halogen-filled quartz tubes. This keeps the tungsten filament from burning out too quickly. And since these are meant for bathrooms, we seal the wiring and terminals tight. Moisture and electricity don’t mix, so we make sure they never meet.
The real-world stuff
If you’re installing one of these, you’ll need to keep an eye on your power grid. These arrays pull a decent amount of current, so make sure your breakers can handle the load. You don’t want the lights going out just as you’re getting warm. One thing to keep in mind: this heat is directional. You’ll feel toasted right in front of the mirror, but the far corners of the room might still feel crisp. That’s just how the physics of it works. If you want the entire room to feel like a sauna, you’ll want a second heating system. But if you just want to stop shivering while you get dressed? This is the fastest way to do it.
