If you’ve ever dealt with glass annealing, you know the struggle. You have to get the temperature exactly right to shake out those internal stresses, otherwise, the whole piece warps or—even worse—shatters later. Most old-school ovens rely on convection. The problem? That’s slow. You’re basically waiting for the air to get hot before the glass does. We do things differently with short-wave infrared (IR) lamps. Instead of heating the air, the energy hits the glass surface directly. It’s immediate. Speed is the name of the game In a continuous production line, every millisecond counts. IR lamps hit their peak temperature almost instantly. So, if you decide to crank up the line speed, the lamps keep up. No lag. No “cold spots.” You don’t have to worry about brittle glass popping up because the oven couldn’t keep pace. You get a consistent, tight temperature window across the whole piece, every single time. Getting your floor space back Here’s a cool part: we pack a ton of wattage into a tiny quartz envelope. Because the heat density is so high, you don’t need a massive, sprawling annealing tunnel. You can get the same “thermal soak” in a much shorter distance. That means you can actually breathe in your factory again instead of letting the oven eat up all your floor space. A quick word of caution Now, there is a catch. When you’re dumping that much heat into a machine, things get hot. Really hot. If you go with a high-density setup, you can’t skimp on the cooling. Make sure your fans and heat sinks can actually handle the load. If you don’t have a solid ventilation plan, you’re looking at fried lamp sockets or dead sensors.
